So I had tummy tuck with repair, I am post opp 10 days bd I can move around pretty good since day 1. But I can’t stand or walk long because of the strain on my back and not being able to stand up. I try and get up and move through out the day, but I notice once I sit or wake up either I feel like a cement brick lol or everything re tightens and it’s a pull to even stand where I know I can.. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Can I massage or do stretches to help?

Answer: Can I massage or do stretches to help stiffness and sore muscles after tummy tuck? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. For most tummy tuck patients, low back pain is common as a result of the muscle tightening and tends to improve spontaneously overly the first 2-3 weeks after surgery. When not "warmed up" the muscles will tighten making changes in position a bit more difficult. I would use heating pads when able to keep your muscles loose and simply allow more time to pass. Hang in there!

Answer: Stretching and massage after tummy tuck. Feeling stiff and sore just a few days after your tummy tuck is to be expected. You need to let your body heal, and for that reason I would not recommend trying to stretch out. If your back is feeling stiff and achy, consider lying on a heating pad or, if your surgeon recommends it, perhaps some light lymphatic massage. Discuss your options for relief with your surgeon before you try anything on your own and continue to take it easy while your body recovers.
