Is my labiomental fold too deep for a chin implant? (Photos)

Question

Had a meeting with a plastic surgeon about getting a chin implant to add projection. The plan is a size L extended anatomical implant, but we didn’t discuss the labiomental fold at all. Any advice is welcome!

The depth of the labiomental fold will increase with a chin implant. I think you will be fine with a large implant.

Thank you for your enquiry. The photographic information is very helpful.
There is no definite right or wrong answer, so what I am saying is just my personal professional opinion. Your labiomental fold sits slightly high and has a slight convexity (=depth). My own preference would be to move the bone forward instead of an implant to reduce the risk of an overpowering chin following surgery.
I would suggest to discuss this with your surgeon who has more information about you than I.

No, your labial mental fold is just fine. A full set of facial photographs from all angles are required to make a determination about the best size for you. In our practice, we rarely ever use a size large. Most men usually receive a size small or medium. We also place chin implants thru a small incision underneath the chin under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes about 30 minutes. General anesthesia is not necessary.
