The small amount of redundant skin that you see in your upper eyelids is actually not extra skin. It’s the fact that some of your fat in that area has atrophy and therefore you’re seeing some laxity of the skin due to that. Preservation of volume in the upper eyelids is important to maintain the youthful appearance. A skin only upper blepharoplasty under locally anesthesia would remove this lax skin and give you a more youthful, alert, appearance. Recovery is approximately 5 to 7 days. Best wishes.
Before jumping into surgery, you might wish to explore "The Ten Minute Eyelift," which literally takes ten minutes to perform using only local anesthesia and requires no scalpel cutting and no stitches. I have been performing this procedure for over 25 years with gratifying results and even performed it on myself. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Thank you for the question. You appear to have excess upper eyelid skin which leads to the feeling of heaviness and droopiness you describe. Sometimes this is is made worse if the brow position drops with age but in your case at first glance of your photo it appears that you brow position is good although you should be examined face to face. So in your case an upper eyelid blepharoplasty under local anaesthetic should work well and would be a daycase procedure. It can also be done as a general anaesthetic with you asleep if you are worried about local anaesthetic but for most people a local anaesthetic is recommended. In either case you go home the same day and have a single running stitch and tape that comes off between day 5 and 7. Some bruising is common but normally settles fully in 1-2 weeks. Patients are often very satisfied with this procedure which gives a brighter appearance to the the eyes.It is best to see your doctor in person for a face to face examination for a detailed assessment. Best of luck ! Kshem Yapa, London.
Here you are looking down. It makes it essentially impossible to understand what the eyelids look like when you are looking straight ahead. Looking down into the phone camera changes the position of the upper eyelid and its folds. It is also very important to physically examine the eyes and listen thoughtfully to your concerns and goals. Ultimately that is the purpose of an in person consultation and there is really no substitute. Your eyes can be your best feature.
