Can my insurance cover back fat surgery?

My back fat is huge and it even looks bigger then double d's I'm so embarrassed but it hurts my back. It's so painful I work out but nothing works. My Boobs are smaller then my back. I feel like it's affecting my back. I know insurance covers breast reduction to help people back. But this is weight pulling down on my back

Hello and thank you for your question.  The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your description, you may be a good candidate for waistline contouring liposuction of your back.  This can greatly improve your overall shape with a
smaller waist.  Unfortunately, insurance providers will not cover this.  Make sure you specifically
look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this
surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.  The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure for improvement of your appearance. Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. You have not provided any details regarding your age, weight and height.  However, based on your description, I would suggest a consultation with a nutritionist and a fitness trainer. You can certainly improve your appearance, and your health, with a focused effort involving diet and exercise. Any fat that persists despite weight loss can be addressed with liposuction which can be safely performed in the office with local anesthetic by a board -certified dermatologic surgeon or plastic surgeon.

No insurance company I've every come across covers cosmetic surgery for fat removal.  They consider any surgery for appearance to be non-health related, and rightly so.  Insurance is for health, unfortunately not for elective appearance surgery.  We run into this distinction every day in our practice.

Sorry but no procedure of this kind is covered by any insurance company in New York. This Is purely cosmetic and must be pursued on a fee for service basis.  Breast reduction is covered under limited circumstances because of functional medical necessity.  The only exception would be for a giant lipoma of the back  which would require documentation.
