Hello, I am 5 weeks after Deep plane facelift. Swelling is almost gone and I feel and look perfect. But all the scars (in front of the ears and behind the ears) are still very red and visible. I do massage few times a day and use Dermatix gel but there is no improvement. My doctor saw my scars yesterday and he said the scars are not looking normal for this stage of recovery. But he didn’t recommend me any other treatment. Could you recomment me something for the scars improvement please.
Answer: Red scars The redness will eventually fade. Because they are right at the hairline, can't use IPL since that might kill some of the hair follicles. Some VItamin C serum or other anti-oxidant cream can sometimes help. Some mild hydrocortisone (1%) cream for a week may also help. The silicone gel that you are using should be good too.

Answer: Vbeam Laser treatments can help defuse the redness of scars Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: What can I do for all the very red and visible scars 1 month after my facelift? Scars usually take up to a year to fully heal. Scar creams and massage may help flatten the scar. The best resource of information would be your board certified plastic surgeon as he/she knows your condition best.
