What can I do for all the very red and visible scars 1 month after my facelift? (Photo)

The redness will eventually fade.  Because they are right at the hairline, can't use IPL since that might kill some of the hair follicles.  Some VItamin C serum or other anti-oxidant cream can sometimes help.  Some mild hydrocortisone (1%) cream for a week may also help.  The silicone gel that you are using should be good too.     

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

Scars normally take months to fade.Things that speed up the process...(BUT ASK YOUR PS)1.  Vitamin E oil + massage2. Silicone gel/sheeting with massage3.  Definitely use sunscreen!

Scars usually take up to a year to fully heal. Scar creams and massage may help flatten the scar. The best resource of information would be your board certified plastic surgeon as he/she knows your condition best. 

Dear Elena73:Thanks for sharing your photo. I believe your scars are normal at this time in the healing process. You have some options:While your hair is short, grow it or use extensions above the sideburn to drape over the scars.Camouflage cosmetics is ideal for you.Massage with a cream as you are doing. Consider some of the anti-red creams such as Rosatrol by Obagi, ZO Skin Health. IPL may be helpful in front of the ear. You appear to have healed well. Give it time and patience. Remember that you will not see your best results for a year (on average). I wish you the best!
