I had an upper bleph 7 days ago. The stitches were removed today, day 7. I have vertical lines on the outer aspect of each eye, some are red and slightly indented and some are scabs. Will this cause train track like scars? Photos are blurry as it’s hard to get a clear closeup using my outdated phone.
Answer: Upper bleph incision concerns... Hi LTD, You should do fine. Ask your surgeon for incision care instructions-- hopefully they include using a silicone-based scar gel. Best wishes, Dr. Jay

Answer: Recommend applying Plato's scar serum twice daily Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Upper blepharoplasty scarring It is very early post-operatively so more time is needed before knowing what the final scar should look like. In general, scars tend to get better looking over time, especially upper blepharoplasty scars. The redness should fade and if the scars are everted/raised they should flatten out. The train track scars usually develop when permanent sutures are left in for a long period of time. It may be unusual to see this happen if they were removed within 7 days of surgery. Continue follow up with your surgeon to monitor the progress of healing and ensure the scars are improving over time. Best wishes, Rohit Jaiswal, MD Plastic Surgeon; Las Vegas, NV

Answer: Scarring? Those vertical marks will likely go away in a short time. I doubt that you will end up with visible scars as a result.

Answer: Will I have scars from my sutures which were removed after my upper eyelid surgery? This is too early to tell, but I suspect that you will do fine. They were removed reasonably early after the surgery and I believe that you will see a good result given more time for healing. Follow the advice of your Plastic SurgeonGood luck to youFrank Rieger M.D. Tampa Plastic Surgeon
