Chalazion changed the shape of my eye; is it permanent? (Photo)

Question

I had a large chalazion 3 months ago that is slowly going away, but it seems to have stretched my eyelid skin and now I have a double fold in that eye (I'm Asian and liked my monolid). Will it ever go back? My eyes are uneven now and it bothers me.

Uneven99  Thank you for your question and photographs.  An in person consultation is necessary to determine your best course of action. A chalazion which is a blocked gland in the eyelid can be treated both medically and surgically. You should be evaluated by an Ocular Plastic Surgeon to determine  your treatment course.  Scar tissue can form at the site of the chalazion which can change the eyelid contour.   For the majority of clients the shape returns to normal but can take up to a year.  Early treatment is key to help the healing process.

Chalazia can rarely change the shape of the eyelid, but noticeable changes of the eyelid folds would be unusual.  If it fails to fully resolve then you need to have it looked at.  Very rarely these blocked oil glands can be attributed to an underlying skin cancer.  Warning signs are recurrence in the same area or chronicity and failure to fully resolve.  Warm compresses can help with the resolution.  Without before pictures it is hard to tell what additional changes may occur going forward. Best regards.
