What to do about the pain after neck lipo?

its three weeks since i had neck lipo. i have shooting pains and tightness in the area plus swelling in the incision area. if this is normal, what can i do in the meantime to alleviate discomfort.

As long as there is no complication, the only management for postoperative pain after liposuction is symptomatic. Anti-inflammatory medications would be a mainstay. This is very unusual unless the liposuction was assisted by a laser or ultrasound where the occasional patient experiences peripheral nerve pain syndrome.

and thanks for sharing your question. I can appreciate your
concern.
Depending on the technique and the instruments used for your
procedure, the tinkling and tenderness to the area could be temporary. The
length of the symptoms depends on the level of swelling of the affected nerves.
Massage to the area and anti-inflammatories should be the
first line of treatment.

Lymphatic massage could be of benefit. Make sure that your
surgeon clears you to proceed with the above-mentioned suggestions.

Finally, make sure that your doctor is
aware of your process. He should be able to guide you best in your care.

The recovery after chin and neck liposuction is typically not that difficult.  almost universally things come back to normal in regards to both discomfort and tightness.  you can try gentle massage to see if that helps but please check with your plastic surgeon to see what he or she recommends. Neck pain and stiffness are rare after liposuction of the neck.  Topifoam or Epifoam under a compressive neck garment is very helpful. A Medrol (steroid) dose pack is beneficial after any head and neck surgery.  Please check with your surgeon to make sure there is not a hematoma or other problem.  Damage to the facial nerve and great auricular nerve can happen. Best wishes
