Are fillers for the forehead (not wrinkles) safe?

Forehead lines can be addressed using multiple modalities including neurotoxins (Botox), fillers (including Juvederm, Emervel and Belotero), and laser resurfacing. When using fillers for forehead wrinkles, you need to ensure that you see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is very experienced with injectables. If done properly you can have a beautiful result but if filler is placed too superficially or if too bulky of a filler is used (e.g Juvederm Voluma) then complications can happen. Typically very soft, superficial fillers are used to address forehead lines and in general they don't last as long as fillers placed in other anatomic sites of the face.

The simple answer is yes, they are safe to be used in this area.  Treating this area is typically considered "off label" but it is done regularly and I have done it myself in my own practice.  The real issue, however, is whether or not the injector can safely use the filler in that area.  This is something you would need to answer for yourself.
