Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

The chin becomes more dimply as we age due to the Mentalis muscle inserting into the chin skin. BOTOX is a great treatment for this area. Occassionally depending on the depth of the dimpling , a hyaluronic acid filler can help smooth it even more. 

I typically place about 8 units total in the mentalis muscle and this can significantly help with the dimpling.  Just like botox in other places, effects eventually wear off in 3-4 months requiring additional botox.  Best of luck! 

Usually a combination approach is best with lasers, microneedling/prp, peels, radiofrequency and skin care. It may take a series of treatments to get improvement. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. For your case, a small amount of Botox would relax the mentalis muscle, which is causing the dimpling, pulling, and the “orange peel” appearance. You could also add filler to this area, which in combination with Botox, could make the area appear much smoother.  
If you have an orange peel appearance with the mentalist muscle at rest, options would include microneedling with PRP, lasers, peels, and routine skin care. A consultation with a practitioner to discuss your goals would be best!

If these chin dimples come out during movement, and are not there when your face is completely at rest, then Botox is a great choice- it will relax the mentalis muscle which is pulling and puckering and making the chin look like an orange peel!  If there's also some skin surface irregularities at rest, from old scars, etc., that's a different story altogether.  The latter would require skin resurfacing i.e. deep chemical peel or lasering. Be well! 

Consider Botox/Dysport injections to relax the mentalis muscle as well as injecting some filler in that area on the same visit.  These two small procedures can give you a very nice result and take away your "orange peel" looking chin.  Hope this helps. 

I few units (4-9, depending on the strength of your muscle action on examination) in the mentalis will help. Be wary of injectors who recommend more. Too much Botox in the chin area or in the wrong location can hit some of the depressor labii inferioris (DLI) and/or the depressor angulii oris (DAO) muscles. If these muscles cannot perform their action the mouth can have an odd appearance; especially if there is too much Botox in the DAO which can lead to a "joker's smile."
