Most good plastic surgeons will address specific needs during an abdominoplasty. If the mons pubis is sagging or excessively full, the area can be lifted and/or debulked. If the pubic area is lifted, care is taken not to lift the vulva excesssively. The vagina itself should not be noticeably affected.
Great question! The vagina itself does not change, but what you are referring to is the Mons region which is the hair-bearing tissue above the vagina, and what a lot of patients complain about. But yes, if you have a large mons, this can be thinned and lifted along with the tummy tuck to provide you with a more rejuvenated appearance. Thanks for your inquiry, I design my tummy tuck to address the pubis. There should not be a change however to the vagina.
Part of the process of shaping during a tummy tuck includes lifting up the top half of the pubic area in removing the deep FAT. This helps a smoother transition and avoids the distasteful "drop off" or "step off" look that can be seen in some patients with less than optimal results. If the incision how long the abdomen is placed too high then the pubic area can be lifted too much, bringing with it the clitoral region. I've seen in some of my practice patients who underwent a tummy tuck buy another plastic surgeon seeking my advice to correct a high- riding clitoris. This can be problematic so make sure you see someone with lots of experience. All the best!
Hello,Shaping and defatting the pubis is part of the tummy tuck process! Go visit a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons who specialize in body contouring. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question. After an abdominoplasty, the pubic area and external genitalia does change. There's a lift and tightening of the area if done appropriately. There's a recent article published in the plastic surgery literature that looked at this issue and it found that it also improves or eliminates minor stress incontinence. There's a lifting and upward rotation of the vaginal opening and tightening of the clitoral hooding.See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.
with a tummy tuck and if too aggressive, can create a funny look when undressed. I employ a monsplasty procedure in my tucks where the mons is anchored to help minimize risks for the scar ascending and the vulva being pulled up even more. You should discuss this with your surgeon and let him/her know just how much pull you are willing to accept.
The position of the vagina does not change with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). However, the pubic area (mons) can change considerably in ways that are beneficial to many patients. The skin and soft tissues of the mons tend to sag in both men and women with weight changes and normal aging. This can be increased with changes associated with childbirth. In particular, the descent of the tissues can begin to cover the clitoris. Similarly, in men, penile length can appear to be decreased when shrouded in excess skin and soft tissues.In both cases, elevation of the mons is commonly performed as a component of abdominoplasty. A firm, flatter mons is a more youthful look for both men and women. This is an important aspect of a tummy tuck that you should discuss with your Plastic Surgeon.
The short answer is no--the vaginal vault will not be materially effected by the abdominoplasty. HOWEVER, for every action in physics there is a reaction--tightening of the abdominal skin downward will absolutely lift the mons pubis upward to some degree. There are also less common cases where the urethra is pulled forward and changes the direction of flow more forward.
Your pubic area will definitely be tightened following a properly performed TT especially when the incision line is placed inferiorly to optimize the pubic to tummy proportions. Lifting of the pubic region actually improves the dynamics of you vaginal region as well;
Your best resource of information would be your surgeon as he/she knows your condition best and will be more accurate in advising.
That is an excellent question. The fat will be re-absorbed by the lymphatic system and digested by your immune cells and then processed by the liver and kidney and excreted from your body. The fat cells won’t leave from your breast and travel to another part of the body or return home from w...
Thank you for your question.The wound looks superficial and clean. Local wound care should allow this to heal over several weeks. I recommend speaking to your plastic surgeon on what he recommends. Best of luck with your recovery.
