The position of the vagina does not change with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). However, the pubic area (mons) can change considerably in ways that are beneficial to many patients. The skin and soft tissues of the mons tend to sag in both men and women with weight changes and normal aging. This can be increased with changes associated with childbirth. In particular, the descent of the tissues can begin to cover the clitoris. Similarly, in men, penile length can appear to be decreased when shrouded in excess skin and soft tissues. In both cases, elevation of the mons is commonly performed as a component of abdominoplasty. A firm, flatter mons is a more youthful look for both men and women. This is an important aspect of a tummy tuck that you should discuss with your Plastic Surgeon.
