Can receding gums be fixed so I can wear dentures?

I have had dentures for almost 40 years and my Gums have shrunk to the point my dentures will no longer stay in.I went to a reg dentist he said there was nothing he could do..

 The picture you have provided shows severe recession on 2 of your lower front teeth.  Also you have bone loss between these 2 teeth. You will need to have an xray to evaluate the extent of this bone loss. It is better to treat the recession as soom as possible to prevent further gum reces...

Gum graft success is based on blood supply to the graft. If the graft moves around most likely it will not survive. Hopefully one time hitting the area did not cause any damage. Fishy smell after surgery, bad taste in the mouth could be indication of infection Usually this could be treated in early stages by taking a stronger antibiotic If left untreated and infection worsens,  the graft will need to be taken out or might even slough off by itself.

There are different causes of gum recession clenching/ Grinding orthodontic treatment aggressive brushing smokinggenetically thin tissue type from the picture.  You do show some  wear and flattened teeth. So you might be a clencher/ Grinder a night guard...
