I had a gum graft done a week ago. The "bandaid" fell off 5 days later. I was brushing my teeth last night and accidentally hit the site of the gum graft with the hard part of my tooth brush. There was quite a bit of bleeding but it stopped shortly after. There is now what looks like a blood clot under the graft and I'm worried I may have detached it.

Fishy smell after surgery, bad taste in the mouth could be indication of infection Usually this could be treated in early stages by taking a stronger antibiotic If left untreated and infection worsens, the graft will need to be taken out or might even slough off by itself.

Bad smell/ bad taste from the gingival graft site is not notmal you should have the site evaluated to rule out infection. You will need antibiotic to clear this infection meanwhile,you should continue rinsing with chlorhexidine mouth wash yo keep area clean
