Is a hollow under the nipple normal 3 weeks after gynecomastia surgery? (photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  At this stage of healing it is difficult to know if the hollow is the result of continued tissue swelling or an issue with the underlying tissues healing.  I would recommend visiting your surgeon to discuss the use of a compression garment as well as gentle massage to help the tissues heal appropriately.  Hang in there!

There are a few possibilities for what could be causing the issue. It may be scarring or it may be overtreatment of the area. Aggressive massage may help if it is scarring, if it was over-treatment then you’ll need some fat grafting to even it out. I’d suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined and have your concerns addressed. 

Thanks for the question, it looks like some scarring is teathering or pulling on the skin. It may require putting a needle through the skin to cut the cord or if its significant scarring I would be aggressive with external radio frequency treatment and lymphatic massage, no reason to wait on this it should be treated early and aggressively to prevent long term issues

You are still very fresh from surgery. I recommend that you follow up closely with your surgeon, compress and start massaging the surgical area to help breast up scar tissue. Patients should wait about 6 months before considering any type of revision. I wish you well!

This is so early to the time of your recent surgery, but I would start now to attempt to break any adhesions of the skin to deeper tissue levels.  Massaging, ultrasonic treatment, needling all may help.  In the future if there still needed to be a. Orrection, surrounding fat redistribution and/or fat reinjection might need to be performed after six months.  Rest assured that this procedure oftentimes does work.  Ask these questions of your Plastic Surgeon.Good luck to you.Frank Rieger M.D.  Tampa Plastic Surgeon
