I am currently taking Accutane twice a week. Can I start dermal fillers like Restylane or Juverderm?

I have oily and sensitive skin. I have undereye wrinkles, tear trough and nasal labial line. Allergic to salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, aspirin and ibuprofen. Skin turns red easily.

Accutane is a powerful treatment for acne, which effects the healing of skin tissues even after the medication is treated. However, fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane are regarded as safe even when combined with accutane. Although for many years caution was advised when accutane was used and patients were considering facial cosmetic surgery, the use of non-surgical hyaluronic acid fillers is considered safe.

Thankyou for your question. In Australia we recommend you have filler after the accutane is flushed out of your system. It is suggested 3 months after finishing due to risk of infection. This may be very conservative but we feel that its best practice. Hope this helps

Yes, I you can have filler treatment while on Accutane. I would avoid skin resurfacing treatments however while you are on Accutane.
