Great question! Providing more volume to the face will help you look more youthful. There are two paths to go - the noninvasive approach can be performed with fillers, the more invasive or surgical approach is fat grafting.Fillers are a great product that enhances and volumizes the areas it is injected to. Can be used for the cheeks, underlies, lips, smile lines, chin, and temples. The advantages of this approach is that you are awake and its a quick in and out procedure. The disadvantage is that fillers only provide very subtle changes, it may take multiple syringes to get the results you desires (depending on your goals) and can get pricey. Fillers are also temporary and will need to be redone every year (also depending on the type of fillers uses).Fat grafting is an amazing procedure that provides a very soft and natural appearance that is more permanent. It can be place anywhere fillers are placed as well. Basically it involves a tiny amount of liposuction to get the fatty tissue needed to injection. The advantages of this approach is that its a one and done type deal and is fairly permanent. There is no lack of material - meaning you don't have to pay for each "syringe" as there is enough fat on even very skinny patients to place the amount needed to give you a good appearance. The disadvantage is that you will need to be someone sedated (asleep) for the procedure and there will be a little bit of downtime (few days). With an in person consultation, you issues can be better addressed and all the options provided for you.Best of luck and hope this information helps! - Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsai Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
