Hi there, I'm a 21-year-old East Asian female who weighs around 47kg and stands at around 162cm. I'm keen on getting a nose job to reduce the size of my nose. My main concern is my nostrils, which I think are too big and flared. However, I'm not sure if I'd be able to achieve smaller nostrils and the appearance of a smaller nose overall through alarplasty alone. Could someone advise me based on my pictures? Thank you so much.
Answer: Alarplasty Alarplasty to narrow the width and flare of the nostrils works very well. However not all surgeons do the procedure on a routine basis or don’t like doing the procedure. The nice thing about alarplasty is that it can be done under local anesthesia and is reistively inexpensive. Some surgeons will try to talk you into an extensive rhinoplasty. But you would do best with simple alarplasty

Answer: Alarplasty vs Rhinoplasty It is a little difficult to assess if you have a wide alar base based on these photos as eyes are blacked out. Traditionally, the width of the nose should be as wide as the intercanthal distance of the distance between the inner corners of your eyes. Generally, doing an isolated alar base reduction does not give the best aesthetic result. You may be better off improving your nasal tip with increased projection and refinement. Oftentimes, when this is done, patients may not require any further reduction in the alar base.

Answer: Asian Rhinoplasty An alarplasty alone can improve the width and flare of the nostrils, but your tip and bridge can also be addressed during rhinoplasty surgery to maintain an attractive balance. Projecting the tip of your nose and making it slightly taller will make it appear smaller and more refined from the frontal view. @drdonyoo @asianrhinoplasty

Answer: I wouldn't advise nose reduction Thank you for your question. Your nose is not big. The problem with your nose is not with the wide nostril, but with the low tip, alar rim retraction and alar flaring. Therefore, the surgery is not to reduce the size of the nose, but to project the tip, correct retracted alar rim and alar flaring. If you try to reduce the size itself, then the result will be pinched appearance. If you do the tip projection with use of cartilage graft (from your ear or septum) and correct the alar rim retraction, then you will have much more aesthetically beautiful nose.
