I had a lower blephroplasty with a canthopexy 8 weeks ago. I developed mild lower lid retraction. My surgeon said that if the retraction does resolve with massage, the next step would be a canthoplasty. I do not want this proceedure. Can the canthopexy be redone?

Answer: Redoing canthopexies. Yes a canthopexy can be redone but I would maximize the improvement to your lid but massaging and stretching first. Reoperating on a prior site of surgery necessitates working with old scar tissue and scar tissue is not as strong as normal tissue. Time is on your side so allow the tissue to soften and relax maximally.

Answer: Lower Lid Retraction After Lower Blepharoplasty Give yourself a full six months to see how much the 'mild' lower lid retraction will resolve. Often significant improvement occurs that makes any revisional surgery unnecessary. Even if necessary, a formal lateral canthoplasty may be more than you need to improve the retraction.
