Answer: How long does it take for orbital floor fractures to heal? (photo) Your orbit has healed by now. You may want to visit your surgeon for a complete analysis of the results. You may need a bleaching cream to reduce the hyperpigmentation (darkening under the eyes).

Answer: This is a profound facial trauma and can take a full 2 years to fully recover. When I look at your photograph, I can see that the left eye sits well back from the position of the right eye. This is called enophthalmos. I wonder if you had the orbital floor adequately reduced. This is something that is easily determined on a CT scan. I recommend that you consult an oculoplastic surgeon who can assess what you need. The American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic and Recostructive Surgery maintains a directory on their website that can help you find a well qualified surgeon close to home.

Answer: Extended bruising It looks like you have hemosiderin deposition in your skin. This is a blood product that can cause extended skin darkening anytime there is a severe bruise. The residual pigmentation will gradually fade, but this can often take a year to resolve completely. Fractures take many months (more than 3) to heal. If the tenderness is slowly getting better, there is probably nothing to worry about. If it is not getting better, you should see your doctor again for a repeat evaluation.
