I had my Mastopexy on June 1st, It's almost three month. My scars are not healing that good. The scars are really bothering me. My surgeon recommended Silicon sheets. I have been using that and putting pressure on the scars but I don't see any difference. Should I consider the steroid injection? Have anyone heard of Apple cider Vinegar on hypertrophic scars.

Answer: Scars You have hypertrophic scars. It's a very common problem. I am very sorry it happened to you. I have good news and bad news: The bad news is that there is nothing you can do other than silicon sheets that I would recommend, the good news is that all my patients who looked like you (at six months) look much better years later, without having done anything.

Answer: Hypertrophic Scars Thank you for your question. While I agree that your scars are raised, I also agree with your PS that you should continue silicone sheeting. While you may not see things right away, silicone sheeting has been shown to help surgical scars settle down over time. It also can take up to a full year - or even more - for your scars to settle. I also don't think that injecting kenalog into the scars is a bad idea - it may help. In the meantime, try and be patient. You seem to have a beautiful result - if the scars continue to be an issue they can be revised in the future. Best of luck!
