I had a breast lift, augmentation, and lipo to flanks, upper/lower abdomen. It's 2 days post op. Bruised n sore, slight nausea n dizziness. The issue is my boobs are hard! My question is Will my breasts soften up? Also will the numbness go away? I heard about massaging breasts to help with recovery but dr didn't mention anything. Perhaps he'll mention it at our 1 week checkup? He didn't mention anything about lymphatic massage for lipo either. Is lymphatic massage due to dr preference?
Answer: Time You are only 2 days out from surgery, so would be patient. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Everything you mention at 2 days out is normal in the absence of acute changes in breast volume, pains, or skin issues. Massage can be started anytime after your procedure so don't fret about missing the boat. Breasts will soften. Numbness will improve in suctioned areas. And not all doctors use lymphatic massage and that is strictly by surgeon preference, usually because they have the machine that can do that. I have never used lymphatic massage and results have been great as well. You will get a lot of info at your first post-op... and bring your list of questions written so you don't forget anything.

Answer: Post op questions In our practice, we go over what to expect, activity, restrictions, medications etc... at a pre-op visit which takes place 2 weeks prior to your procedure. If that was not the case with you, I suggest writing down all your questions and discussing them with your surgeon at your next visit. That is if they can wait, if they can't I'm sure the surgeon has experienced staff that can answer them over the phone if need be.Short answer: 2 days post op, yes your breasts will be firm, yes there will be some bruising and swelling and tenderness. Some numbness may be permanent. Your surgeon will/should give you post op instructions regarding any massaging of the breasts. Lymphatic massage is helpful but necessarily crucial.

Answer: Will my breasts soften up? You should have had all this information prior to your surgery. Yes, breasts are very firm after surgery and gradually get soft over 6-12 weeks. Numbness may or may not improve, only time will tell. Discuss all postop procedures with your surgeon.
