What would help my side profile the most? (photos)

Chin augmentation using implant or chin advancement surgery seems to be very helpful in improving the side profile. For the nose, it seems that hump reduction, radix augmentation, and tip plasty can bring good results. For functional problems, the surgical method can be determined after evaluation of the status of septum or turbinate after taking a CT scan at the clinic.

Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. The bump can be straightened to give a nicer profile. At the same time, a chin implant can be placed that looks very natural. When all is said and done, the profile should look much better and straighter from the side. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

Based on a pure anatomic analysis, a rhinoplasty with a potential chin implant or chin advancement (osseous genioplasty) would help achieve a more harmonious appearance. I’m sorry you feel as though you can’t leave the house. Please know that you look completely normal, and yes, attractive! The worst thing I am hearing is that you can’t breath through your nose, which is something that can be fixed with a rhinoplasty. You would also benefit from a chin implant as well. I will give you a little hint though: surgeons don’t want to operate on people who’s negative feelings about their appearance is disproportionate to there objective appearance. It’s because there is a high probability that they won be happy with surgical improvement. So, once again, you’ll need to come to terms with your feelings about your appearance. We can make changes to your appearance, but you need to know you are beautiful right now.

Thank you for your question. I think rhinoplasty is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

The best result will be from a chin implant and a rhinoplasty to bring down the nasal dorsal hump. Both can be done at the same time.

Rhinoplasty? Septoplasty? Chin implant? Jaw surgery? you have a somewhat over projecting dorsal profile. The over projection of the dorsal nasal profile accentuates the under projection of the chin. A Rhinoplasty with reduction of the dorsal hump could be performed to improve the nasal profile. If there is breathing difficulty this may be due to a deviated septum. If that is the case a septoplasty can be performed along with the rhinoplasty to improve the airway. The cartilage harvested from the septum might be used as a septal extension graft to lengthen what appears to be a slightly short nose. The projection of your chin is weak. I’m not sure what you mean when you say you have difficulty closing your jaw. If that is true you should see an oral surgeon or orthodontist to determine what the problem is. From the aesthetic point of view the projection of the jaw can be increased either with jaw surgery which breaks the jaw and advances it forward, or with a chin implant added to the tip of the chin to increase its forward projection. if the only issue with the chin is aesthetics, the chin implant is the easier and less invasive approach. It can be done in conjunction with a Rhinoplasty and septoplasty. The potential appears to be there for quite a nice profile.

From your description about having difficulty closing your jaw, it is very important to seek a proper consultation with a maxillofacial surgeon who has experience in alignment of the jaws and particularly, how this affects your bite. Jaws and teeth go hand in hand, and the position of the jaws translates to the position of the teeth. They have to be in coordination with one another. Patients who have jaw/bite issues typically have concerns w/ appearance, as we can see the outline of the jaw. A weak jaw can be a "small jaw" or what we call micrognathia. This can be treated surgically with jaw surgery, cosmetically with a chin implant, and most importantly - dentally with braces. These options usually come together after a thorough consultation with the proper specialists, using information like xrays, photos, and dental images.
Cosmetically speaking, a cosmetic/plastic surgeon would likely want to have this functional information first prior to doing purely cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic options for an improved profile include rhinoplasty (nasal reshaping) and chin implant (to create a "stronger" jaw appearance).
It is important to have all the information to proceed. For example, if jaw surgery is an option, it would be best to understand if you wish to take this option or not, since jaw surgery can fix the "weak appearance" without a chin implant. However, if you may not wish to take this option after learning about it, then a surgeon will need to provide you with appropriate alternatives to honor your functional and cosmetic wishes.
