I have acne scaring in spots on my face..i habe been applying a skin lightener to try to even the tone but i think they are layers deeper in my skin..so my question is can i apply a chemical peel on just those spots and not my entire face?
Answer: Chemical peels are not spot treatments Chemical peels in general are not good spot treatments. The treatments work by removing layers of skin to improve skin quality or color. If performed in singular spots this can lead to pigmentation issues. However, at time, higher strengths are applied to certain areas like around the mouth or eyes or over areas of diffuse pigmentation like melasma. Best of luck.

Answer: Recommend doing spot treatments of TCA 15% peel for these types of scars Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. We do not recommend our Chemical Peels for spot treatment but we do recommend that you do an all over peel as you will be much happier with the results. An overall chemical peel will give you an all over better appearance and You will see an all over better appearance to the skin with a chemical peel applied to the entire face. In our clinic we use lasers and other procedures for spot treatments. I would consult a licensed provider in your area tha offers chemicals peels and lasers and see which is best for your skin. Answer: Chemical Peel This is a great question! I would not recommend doing spot treatment chemical peels as it could cause some uneven pigmentation. However, you could an additional layer to the areas that need more concentration. It's also important to remember it may take you a series of peels to achieve even pigmentation from the damage the acne has done. I would also recommend you looking into microneedling as this can be very beneficial with resurfacing the skin where scars have depth to them! Hope this is useful information for you and good luck.
