Shooting Pain One Year Post Breast Augmentation- Common?

Question

I had breast augmentation about one year ago...behind the muscle with incision on aerioloa. I sometime have a shooting pain on the left breast, not near the nipple, but off to the sides. It's been a year already..is this common? My left nipple also had numbness following the surgery but the right did not, which I realize is common.

It happens but usually diminishes with time.  Warm bath/compresses to the area at the time of an attack can be helpful as well as nsaids. Followup with your physician just to make sure nothing obvious is causing it.

Having pain in a breast augment 1 year post op is not common but can happen. Some patients experience random pain that usually resolves in a few weeks. I think this is due to pulling on scar tissue or the implant irritating a nerve. Capsular contracture can also cause pain. Follow up with your PS.

I think it would be most unusual for your breast pain to be related to the breast implants. Have your plastic surgeon check out your breast to make certain there's not another cause.

This is not common, but can happen.  In most cases, these symptoms are hard to explain but mare usually transient.  It is a good idea to see your surgeon to ensure that nothing sinister is happening, such as a capsular contracture.

It can happen but isn't common. When something occurs one year following surgery, it can have etiologies unrelated to the augment, meaning that it should be worked up. You should return to your plastic surgeon for followup. If you have not had a mammogram recently, this might be indicated.
