Shooting Pain One Year Post Breast Augmentation- Common?

It happens but usually diminishes with time.  Warm bath/compresses to the area at the time of an attack can be helpful as well as nsaids. Followup with your physician just to make sure nothing obvious is causing it.

This is not common, but can happen.  In most cases, these symptoms are hard to explain but mare usually transient.  It is a good idea to see your surgeon to ensure that nothing sinister is happening, such as a capsular contracture.

Having pain in a breast augment 1 year post op is not common but can happen. Some patients experience random pain that usually resolves in a few weeks. I think this is due to pulling on scar tissue or the implant irritating a nerve. Capsular contracture can also cause pain. Follow up with your PS.

I think it would be most unusual for your breast pain to be related to the breast implants. Have your plastic surgeon check out your breast to make certain there's not another cause.

It can happen but isn't common.  When  something occurs one year following surgery, it can have etiologies unrelated to the augment, meaning that it should be worked up.  You should return to your plastic surgeon for followup.  If you have not had a mammogram recently, this might be indicated.

While it can happen it is unusual so you should see your surgeon.  I tell all prospective patients that the highest incidence of nerve issues is going to be via incisions around the areola simply based on proximity of the incision.  Unfortunately there may not be anything that can be done but you should see your surgeon in case there is.  Good luck!

It is not common to have pain one year after a breast augmentation.  There is no way for any of us to give you any advice on your problem, however, without seeing you in person.  I would recommend going back to see your original plastic surgeon.  If that is not possible, or you choose not to, then I would seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area.  You should be examined.

Plastic surgeons at UC San Diego published a study 10 years ago that showed 40% of breast augmentaion patient reported spontaneous shooting pains at 1 year post op-usually not severe or frequent. Loss of nipple sensitivity is diagnostic for 4th and 5th intercostal nerve injury and 6-12 months to recovery would be expected.

You should see a plastic surgeon to look for other possible causes of pain.
