7 months post-op I am still getting pain along the hairline. Thoughts or advice?

Hi everyone, I have had a few FUE procedures on my hairline to try and increase density there. The latest was 7 months ago and basically i am still getting pain and discomfort along the hairline in a particular spot. It hurts if i brush my hair there or the wind catches it. I have been back to see my surgeon a couple of months ago and he said to not do anything at all, but to just leave it and hopefully it should settle down within the first 12 months at some point. But i am a little worried..

It is best to follow your surgeon's post surgery care instructions. If your pain persists, follow up with your surgeon again.

You likely are having some nerve regeneration issues. Sometimes this can cause itching, other times pain and sometimes numbness. The good news is it gets better over time.

Hello. I understand your concern and I’m glad to see you reached out for advice. I’m also happy you went to see your surgeon. Sometimes there could be nerve damage during your transplant and that could be the source of your pain. Your doctor was correct when he said it should go away within 12 months. Be patient and you should be feeling better within a couple of months. Hang in there, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Good luck.

As answered earlier, I would agree and suggest this might be a pain related to a nerve being damaged during your operation. This might take a while to heal but usually should settle within a year. I hope that helps.

There may have been some nerve damage done at the time of your surgery that can cause hairline pain but this should go away within a year or so, usually earlier
