Can I shave before Brazilian Butt Lift and maybe Tummy tuck??

Question

I have a PCOS which causes a hormonal imbalance and excessive hair growth.. I want to get a bbl but I heard you can't shave before surgery.. I shave almost my whole body.. Stomach, butt, legs, and back.. I am really insecure when it comes to my hair.. Is there any alternatives????

You should ask your surgeon for specific instructions about this. I ask my patient to shave 2-3 days before the surgery, but not the day before or the day of the surgery, as you can have small cuts that may not heal by the time of the surgery and you may have some irritation that can create a problem, like an infection in the area.

It's best to be shaved 30 minutes within the time of incision to avoid infections of the skin but since liposuction involves minimal incisions I am not sure if it makes a difference in your case.

Thanks for posting your question, trichotomy is the medical term of shaving or cutting hair before surgery; this is usually done 2 hours or less before surgery, it could be done by you or nurses can help you; it should not be done days before surgery because microscopically cuts can lead to bacterial contamination or dermatitis increasing the probability of surgical site infection. So you can shave but it should be at the right moment and with help from the nursing staff.Best wishes.
