I ask my patient to shave 2-3 days before the surgery, but not the day before or the day of the surgery, as you can have small cuts that may not heal by the time of the surgery and you may have some irritation that can create a problem, like an infection in the area.

It's best to be shaved 30 minutes within the time of incision to avoid infections of the skin but since liposuction involves minimal incisions I am not sure if it makes a difference in your case.
