What would you suggest for rhinoplasty?

I am 22, female. I don't mind the shape of my nose but as soon as a I smile my nose becomes more prominently downward pointed in my opinion. However, It is my side profile I mostly dislike because my nostrils look quite long, and become longer when I smile. I feel like the darkness under my eyes makes my face look harsher. I have been thinking a columella reduction might reduce the pointiness that I dislike - though I worry my upper lip area will look awkwardly large.

Thank you for your question. You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty, I think it is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery.  In your case, you have a prominent hanging columella as well as large nostrils.  I deal with this situation very commonly by performing a caudal septal excision, Weir (alar base) excision, and alar contour grafting.  It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

Unfortunately, your photos do not reveal enough to give you a more detailed analysis and method of treatment. It appears that well executed rhinoplasty would significantly improve your nose appearance including migration of the tip when you smile. Your nasal shape could be improved with a Rhinoplasty.
The actual technique used will vary with each surgeon, but I would do it via an Open rhinoplasty, and some of the steps would be elevation of the columella, upward rotation of the tip, and releasing the tip-lip aesthetic complex, and probably nostril narrowing - I can't comment on the eye darkness ,because you cropped your eyes out of the photo.I'm sure you can find a good Rhinoplasty surgeon in Gloucester (I am on the other side of the world, in Australia)

I think you have analyzed your nose accurately. I would lower your bridge. Raise the tip, and narrow your nose. You might also benefit from having the nostrils reduced so they don’t flare as much. Not a bad idea to get a few opinions. Your choice of surgeon is the most important decision you will make.

I agree that you have too much collumella show especially when you smile. This can be easily corrected with shortening of your caudel septum. Your nose would look less long especially when yousmile. Darkness under the eyes is often inherited. Tough to completely resolve but can be helped with peels, light laser rx, or nanofat injection. Hope this helps.
