Is this swelling or open roof deformity 7 months after my closed rhinoplasty? (photos)

Question

I had closed rhinoplasty 7 months ago to remove a dorsal hump and slight tip lift. Super happy with side profile but front profile seems wider and swollen. I know I have thick skin but is this swelling or open roof deformity?

From what I see, this looks fine. A rhinoplasty takes 1-3 years to completely heal and for the swelling to go down at which point you would see any problems better (if there were any at all).

Your nose looks still swollen due to thick skin. It will get better in one year at least. .In thick skin, the ideal result start showing itself after 2 years.After then a thorough examination and palpation is needed to see if it is open roof or not.

Thank you for your question. Although it can be difficult to tell from the pictures, you do appear to have residual swelling. We counsel our patients that it can take a full year (and sometimes longer with thicker skin) to see the final result. In addition, we rarely would consider doing a revision before a year. I would recommend waiting the full year to see how much of the swelling goes down. If you are still not happy with the result, I recommend consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. Best of luck!

Yes, you do have significant swelling for 7 month.I recommend direct injections of hyaluronidase and in tough cases dilutes steriod to help reduce swelling and scar tissue. Talk to your operating surgeon.
