There are no age limits for elective cosmetic procedures. As long as you are healthy and can obtain medical clearance you would at least qualify for consideration. One caveat regarding age is that of tissue elasticity. As one ages tissues become less responsive thus the results of cosmetic procedures can be somewhat limited based on the condition of the tissue being operated on. Healing can affected as well.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
No, 75 is not too old for a tummy tuck! The most important factor when determining if someone is a good candidate for surgery is their overall health. Your plastic surgeon will evaluate you fully during the consultation to make sure that you are a good candidate for surgery.
Thank you for your question. Age is just a number, you medical health is much more important. So if you are very healthy and your regular doctor will provide a medical clearance for your procedure, then you may be a candidate. I would much rather operate on a healthy 75 year old than someone who is 50 with a long list of medical problems.Hope this helps!
Your health status determines your ability to safely undergo surgical procedures. Medical clearance is obtained prior to the procedure. Tummy tuck requires general anesthesia and is a higher risk scenerio but still generally safe. In my practice, Liposuction is performed under local anesthesia with light sedation. So this is an even safer option. Tummy tuck and liposuction offer completely different results. An exam and discussion in person will help determine which option is best for you.
Health of the individual is more important than age to determine the candidacy for liposuction or TT. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of lipo suctions and TTs each year with favorable patient feedback.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
As long as you are in good health, 75 is not too old for a tummy tuck. I have several patients in their 70's that have done very well. Be sure to see a Board Certified Plastic surgeon! Good luck.
No, you're not too old if you're in good physical shape. A woman is always a woman regardless of age, and I've performed tummy tucks on several women in their eigth decade. Congratulations on your good health and longevity!
Dear reneetom,if you don't have any severe medical condition and you are in good general shape, then you are not too old to get a surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. You will get the best recommendations after a thorough examination.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Hello and thank you for your question,There is no age limit for having a tummy-tuck. As long as you are healthy and have help for recovery and can get a medical clearance from your primary care doctor there is no reason why you could not proceed with surgery.
There is no upper age limit for a tummy tuck and/or liposuction. The most important thing for both young and older patients is to make sure that you are healthy and strong enough to handle the general anesthesia and recovery/healing period afterwards. This will require careful history taking and physical examinations by your primary care physician, the plastic surgeon, and the anethesiologist. Lab work and diagnostic studies will also be done before surgery to make sure there are no red flags to surgery. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD Plastic Surgery@drjohnsonlee
Hi, thanks for the question. After a normal procedure is the exit of liquid in some case bloody zero and then becomes yellowish. The green color is not the usual, it would be good to consult with your doctor and if it is necessary to make culture for bacteria and fungi. The important thing is not...
The wound shows characteristics of infection. This should be managed immediately before it worsens. Your surgeon should be informed about this as he has his own protocols in post-op management. Have an appointment as soon as possible for treatment.
Each surgeon has his/her guidelines for postoperative care. In most cases, patients will ramp up their physical activity between 4 - 6 weeks post surgery. Consult with your surgeon as he/she knows the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you.
