Lately I've noticed on my side profile that my jaw has very little definition and does not protrude forward as much as in other people. Also the area directly under the chin where some people have a double shin appears to be larger than normal. However, when I feel the area, I don't notice much extra skin or fat.
Answer: Chin surgery and necklift It appears in the photo that you have a recessive chin and excess neck skin. The degree of excess skin is difficult to assess in a single photo. It is very clear that you have a recessive chin. The treatment for this is a chin implant or sliding genioplasty. If, indeed you have excess skin then a simultaneous necklift would improve the contour and definition of your jawline.

Answer: A chin implant and neck liposuction may be considered for an improved jaw line appearance. I agree that you have a bit of a recessive chin appearance on profile. Even though you may not have a lot of excess fat under your chin, depending on your examination, the combination of chin augmentation and subcutaneous liposuction may have an additive effect that improves both your jawline and chin projection. An examination would be necessary to determine your candidacy. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph.

Answer: For the Chin- Chin Implant vs Fillers A formal evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are surgical and non-surgical options to correct this. We can place a chin implant, which is a quick surgical procedure. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, however, so for those patients, we also offer non-surgical chin augmentation with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill, and Sculptra are injected into the area to improve the overall appearance of the lower face and balance the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline, and improve the chin crease. Implants are a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for permanent chin enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert, or aesthetic facial plastic surgeon; we have both at our practice, which is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin implant, liposuction of neck and possible facelift You would benefit from a chin implant. This is done intra-orally under general anesthesia, takes about 1 hour to perform and costs $4,000. You would also benefit from liposuction of the neck. You may also benefit from a facelift but I would need more photographs to give an accurate answer. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Deep neck lift and possible chin implant You have almost no neck definition likely due to an anterior (forward) hyoid bone and recessed chin. A chin implant and neck contouring should give you a very nice improvement.
