5 years ago I had a chin implant placed. A large silicone anatomical implant. It now makes my face oddly longer, sunken, and my chin from the front view is weak and pulled in. Now, my top lip is disappearing. My philtrum distance is long. I think I am experiencing bone resolution… I just don’t know where to start and it’s making me suffer mentally. I just want a balanced chin and lower face. What do I do? Anything other than jaw surgery? Taking out the implant will make me even MORE recessed.
Answer: Chin implant and long lip These are two separate issues. The length of your upper lip may be getting longer with age and this can be corrected with an upper lip lift procedure. Overall, the chin implant gives you adequate projection but in the third photo it looks like it is positioned or migrated superiorly and deepens your mentolabial fold. The implant can be removed and another placed, or you can have a sliding genioplasty. The upper lip and chin surgery can be done in the office with intravenous anesthesia at the same time.

Answer: Lip lift In your frontal view, you can see that the distance between the nose and upper lip is too great and the upper lip is too small. I do not recommend chin surgery but I do recommend a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: You appear to have a nice result 5 years after chin implant surgery. I suspect that many of you are concerns about your facial appearance have little to do with your chin implant surgery 5 years ago. Since there appears to be a disconnect, please consider meeting with your plastic surgeon or another reputable facial plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Changes in the face related to chin implant Without before and good after photos it would be very difficult to comment on your results. While chin implant affects the chin, lower jaw and possibly lower lip, it will not affect your upper lip and nose. It would be in your best interest to have in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon(s) with known expertise in chin augmentation and discuss these issues. A set of preoperative photos should be available for a consultation. Good luck.

Answer: Upper lip, lower chin submental Based on your series of nice posted photos, I see an acceptable chin implant result with under chin or submental fat and the upper lip zone It’s not related to the chin implant. Your upper lip zone is in long gated and a thinning of the red mucus of the upper lip. Recommendation would be Simental liposuction with possible mini neck Lyft to tighten the tissue under the jawline chin, upper lip lift, HA fillers to upper lip mucosa. Fee range from $8000-$15,000. Best virtual consult with.
