Can I still continue with breast implants if I had rhinitis & asthma allergies & take medicines?

Hello, breast implant in 10 more days but I'm still nervous, I had rhinitis allergy, asthma allergy but not everyday and painkiller allergy (such as penicillin, Cataflam) medication. I usually take is zyrtec and montelukast sandoz just like 1 month 3 times. Can i still continue to breast implant? Since i'm afraid that can make my immune worst day by day after implant and my body will reject the implant? pls help me to decide. Thank you all great doctors.

Having allergies and asthma does not necessarily rule out breast implant surgery, but it is crucial for your medical team to be aware of your allergies and asthma history. Therefore I would suggest communicate clearly with your doctor about your medical history, allergies, and any concerns you may have.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

In my practice, there is no contraindication to patients undergoing breast augmentation with implants in the setting of a history of asthma or allergic rhinitis. In fact, some of the asthma medications that you listed (montelukast) are even thought to be protective against capsular contracture, one of the possible complications of breast augmentation. The best advice is to check with your board certified plastic surgeon, who will have access and ability to review you entire medical history and determine if there are any causes for concern.

To my knowledge there is no direct relation between breast implants and allergy; in other words, patients with significant allergies do not seem to have problems with acceptance or rejection of silicone breast implants. Hope this helps.

The problem is not "rejection", but the increased risk of infection. You need to be over any rhinitis. Please contact your surgeon.

Having seasonal allergies is not a contraindication for breast augmentation.  It is important however that you speak with your surgeon about the medications that you take including prescription, over the counter and supplements.  She/He will advise any that you should avoid prior to surgery.
