What do I need to know about aftercare following SMP? Is it the same or similar to regular tattoos?

SMP, or scalp micropigmentation, is a painless procedure that uses highly specialized equipment and unique techniques to carefully and expertly inject all-natural, color-tailored pigments into the scalp creating a completely natural look of the patient’s hairline. A typical procedure involves an initial consultation and two pigmentation sessions to achieve the desired results. 
You can wash your head the fourth day after the treatment and, during that time, avoid any strenuous activity that will prompt undesired sweating. Once the procedure is complete, the results of a Scalp Micropigmentation treatment can last up to five years.

Every doctor has a different post-care regimen. It is always a good idea to ask your doctor. In general SMP aftercare is the same as a tattoo.  In my opinion the tattoo aftercare is more extensive.A bad Scalp Micro Pigmentation SMP can make you look like Lego Man or helmet head. Scalp Micro Pigmentation is a combination of art work and technical skill. Not everybody doing SMP can pull off a realistic look.

Micropigmentation aftercare is similar to tatoo care.Showering is acceptable soon after.  Most specialists do not reccomend washing the scalp for three daysPlease use this information when consulting in person with an experienced certified micropigmentation specialist.

Hello.Before I start a procedure, I discuss SMP aftercare with each patient.  SMP aftercare can vary depending on your skin. If you are oily, we discuss oil-reducing techniques or if you have excessive scaling or dryness we prepare the scalp prior to the procedure. After you have scalp micropigmentation you should not wash your head for 3 days with soap and water, but showering with just water is ok. It takes about 3 days for the pigment to set in the scalp. See web reference below
