Hello everybody!! I have my breast augmentation surgery schedule at the end of May. Exactly 3 weeks post op there's gonna be this electronic rave that happens once a year close to Seattle (where I leave) there'll be a lot of bouncing and dancing. . . is it too risky to go? should I change my appointment to be a month before the rave? or I shouldn't just definitely not go? Thanks a lot guys !
Answer: Rave and events after BA Hi jeimmyjaz; I generally ask my patients not to do any impact exercises for 6 weeks following a BA. I think that it is taking unnecessary risks to the tissues. We think that it takes roughly 3 months for the capsular scar tissue to mature around the implant; this tissue is the main support for the implant pocket that is supporting that implant. Also, although the risk of bleeding is rare after BA why take that risk. If you go, be careful to stay away from the crowd and stay quiet. While we have a rapid recovery protocol, we are still careful to respect the surgical site and normal healing processes that require time biologically.

Answer: RAVE (or major physical activity) after a breast augmentation Some of my patients, with young children, say that it really hurts when their child elbows them accidentally in the breast area after augmentation. So if a patient believes that they may get jostled during an event, it might not be advisable to go but it is best to check with your surgeon. We advise our patients to avoid heavy lifting and extreme exercise for around 6 weeks after surgery. This will allow time for the sutures to dissolve and start healing.

Answer: Recovery 3-weeks should be enough time. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Rave after BA Dear jeimmyjaz,It depends on the individual but its at least a week of solid downtime. Beyond that depends on how you heal, what time of work you do, and the amount involved with surgery. I do not recommend more than walking for at least 4-6 weeks. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Rave after Breast Augmentation? Thank you for your question. You need to discuss this with your surgeon. I would say that attending an event such as that at three weeks postop is a little risky.Hope this helps!
