Question

Hello, im a 24 year old mommy and I had my baby boy almost four years ago.My belly stretched resulting in some stretch marks in my lower belly and almost two years ago I had liposuccion in my abdomen areas...so my question is if I become pregnant again will there be not enough fat in my belly to expand during my pregnancy resulting in new stretch marks even though I still have that extra skin?

Thank you for your question. Stretch marks are hard to predict as some people are more prone to developing them than others. I would say that if you had significant stretch marks before, then you are prone to develop them again.Good luck!

The removal of fat cells from the abdomen will allow for less voluminous increase with increase in weight. Your lipo two years ago reduced the number of cells in your abdomen.  If you gain significant weight during a subsequent pregnancy, you may witness stretch marks but they will be fewer in the areas already treated.  A second lipo or TT may be a reasonable option if your family is complete following recovery from delivery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

History of liposuction should not change your risk of stretch mark development. Best to have another baby if that is your plan, then assess the situation after. Sometimes after multiple pregnancies a tummy tuck or possibly just liposuction is needed, but it depends on your body and what your goals are.
