Hi There, My experience is that it takes a few months( at least 3 months)for the breasts to settle down once you stop, especially if you gained a lot of breast volume through pregnancy and breast feeding. Here are some considerations: 1. are you finished having more children and breast feeding for good? 2. is your nipple position above or below the breast crease? 3. what are your goals, the result you wish to achieve? 4. how much did your breasts change with your first child? 5 are you at your normal weight or expect to lose more? 6. do you have stretch marks on your breasts? Your responses to those questions are very important because it's one thing to want a breast augmentation and it's another to determine if that operation is the right one for you. Here are some tips: 1. define your goals 2. learn if breast augmentation will deliver those goals 3. explore your options and make sure you make the right choice! Thanks for asking, Dr. Ellen

The timing of breast surgery after the cessation of lactation varies to some degree depending on what needs to be done. For example , do you need a lift? But overall 3 to 6 months after breast feeding it should be okay to proceed.
Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 3 months after you finish breast feeding before undergoing an augmentation.

Your breasts should completely stop producing milk even when stimulated and reach their smaller size prior to breast augmentation. In many patients, this process can take 4-6 months.
After you have completed breast feeding - its reasonable to wait 3-4 months to allow the breasts to return to a 'normal' state. At that time, breast augmentation can be considered. Your surgeon will also discuss if other adjunctive procedures, like a breast lift, will give you an optimal cosmetic outcome.
Typically, when implants appear too high, it is due to one of two issues: Either the implant pocket IS too high because the proper release at the fold was not performed, or the breast did not have enough stretch to accomodate the implants. Implant "settling" or "dropping" should actually be...
Hate to be such a purist, but great ballet is about thin and athletic dancers, and most are quite flat chested, and yes, sophisticated. If you insist, perhaps a small prepectoral gel implant, but you should check this out with the the ballet master.
It is important that you have the final say in the size of the implants that will placed at the the time of surgery. After all, you will be the one "wearing" those implants, hopefully, for a long time after your surgery. The "rule of thumb" as you mention is a good starting point, but not an...
