My eyes or more narrow in the inner corner and wider at the outer corners and I'm wanting to know of a way that can lift the outer corners and possibly widen the inner corners. When I look to the side, the eye further away looks like I'm squinting. And when taking photos it always looks off
Answer: Eyelid positon Like all the physicians who have approached your question, I appreciate an individual who has concerns regarding the appearance of their eyes. As mentioned, patients with retraction along the outer points of their lower eyelids can have this due to congenital (birth) reasons, skeletal deficiencies, surgical treatments, and simple hereditary factors. I would recommend a consultation with a few of your local physicians who will have a "full view" of you concerns regarding your eyes. Depending on the clinical findings a lower lid graft or simple canthoplasty may be recommended. However, the view from the side is within a normal spectrum of appearance.Be healthy and be well,James M. Ridgway, MD, FACS

Answer: There is no substitute for an actual consultation. I suspect that what you think you are talking about, what you are showing us, and what we are going to see, are not going to be the same. That makes me concerned that you have an honest issue but you may also fit somewhere in the body dysmorphic spectrum. This is an entity where individuals are much more sensitive to perceived and actual body issues than others. There is also typically a preoccupation with the concern. If you are spending hours a day thinking about this issue for example. The big problem is seeing a surgeon, thinking that they get what you are saying and after surgery discovering that the two of you were on different pages (sometimes different planets, like venus and mars). Getting the wrong thing fixed will no make you a happy camper. So please do not let this happen. Without a actual personal consolation, I would not even dare speculate regarding your concerns and what you might need.

Answer: Eyelid retraction In looking at your photos, it seems that you have a bit of lower lid retraction on the outer half of your eyelid. This sometimes happens in a "post blepharoplasty" patient when some scarring can pull the lower eyelid down after surgery. This can also happen in some patients that have thyroid disease, if it is a new phenomenon. However, if your eyes have always been this way, then its more likely your natural anatomy.Lower eyelid retraction repair can be done to improve this look by placing an internal graft on the eyelid without any visible external scars. The exact type of graft varies depending on the patient. I have attached a link to photos of a patient with similar features, with before and after views. We have more before and afters at the office if you would like to come in for a consultation. But definitely seek a consultation with a Oculoplastics surgeon, as this is their area of expertise.Best wishes.

Answer: How to achieve more almond eye appearance ? You have lateral lower eyelid relative retraction. The solution depends on the exact features of the eyelid. Sometimes canthoplasty alone is enough. Sometimes lower eyelid retraction surgery with internal graft may be necessary to achieve more almond eye appearance. Best to see an oculoplastic surgeon for evaluation.

Answer: Lifting lateral aspect of the lower eyelids First, an actual consultation should be considered, to assess the elasticity of the lower eyelid. It will tell us if you need a graft vs. a cantopexy (lifting of the lateral corner of the eyelid via a surgical incision on the lateral aspect of the lower lid).
