General anesthesia, what to expect at least 4 hours after waking up?

Question

My husband will be bringing me home but there will be other family members at home who do not know I am getting lipo. I'm worried that whatever they give me to put me under will not wear off in 2 or 3 hours and I will appear completely out of it. Is this the case or can you talk somewhat normal after a few hours?

I always say to avoid gen anesthesia if possible for many reasons but if you have to have it, then expect to  be out of it for the rest of the day.

This is an excellent question and it needs to be explored by your chosen doctor.  I never used General Anesthesia for this procedure no matter how extensive of a procedure in my state approved and certified operating rooms. General anesthesia is NOT required and is not the choice method for liposuction as studies have shown it is not necessary and it carries very negative adverse risks that no one needs wanting to have this elective procedure done.

I recommend following up with your anesthesiologist about what to expect. There will be a period of recovery following your procedure and each practitioner will have a specific protocol following your procedure. For best results with liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. Thank you for your questions. You should discuss this with your anesthesia provider on the day of surgery. After general anesthesia, you will be awake but the medications can make your groggy and tired for the first 24 hours, so after surgery you will likely feel like resting and not entertaining company. Hope this helps!
