Im considering a nose job but my consern is that my body will reject sutures.Thats what happend while I had my lip lift.I endup having big ughly scar not mentioning that i had to pull out sutures of the incision. Is it possible to use glue rather than sutures?
Answer: Sutures I have rarely seen intolerance or rejection to sutures in my experience on facial plastic surgery, since it is a highly vascularized tissue (unlike body contouring or breast surgery). Modern materials provide excellent toleration and resorbtion. I do advise your surgeon agains permanent sutures inside the nose, nowadays there are fabulous threads of long and very long term resorption which are ideal for nasal surgery.

Answer: Sutures are necessary in rhinoplasty but are not a cause for concern Hi there. I am sorry to hear about your poor experience with sutures previously. In general, sutures are necessary for rhinoplasty (wound closure and cartilage reshaping) and in general, it is very unusual to have issues with scarring as a result of sutures. Poor scarring is not usually a result of the suture material itself but other factors such as excessive tension on the wound or mishandling of tissues by the operator. It sounds as if some of the issues you experienced were the result of deep skin sutures, which are best avoided on the face and are definitely not necessary in rhinoplasty. Good luck!

Answer: Sutures may be necessary for rhinoplasty surgery. It is unlikely you would have any issues with skin sutures or intranasal mucous membrane sutures. We use polydiaxone (Ethicon PDS) sutures to reconstruct nasal cartilage, and these are absorbed around three months postoperative. We have seen a few suture abscesses over the years which have not led to significant issues postoperatively. Consider finding out which sutures you may be allergic to before considering any surgeries. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty with no sutures Thank you for your question. You will always require sutures if you undergo rhinoplasty. I am not quite sure what you mean when you say you rejected the sutures used for your lip lift. Were the sutures vicryl sutures? If so, you may have experienced what is traditionally described as 'spitting out' of the sutures. Anyway, discuss your concerns with your surgeon and I am certain he will come up with a good solution.Kind regards,
