I had an accident when I was 7 wich caused my Nose to look this way. I can't breathe from My nose unless I force to let the air go through. I want to know if My insurance will cover both deviated septum and the hump or just the deviated Septum ?

Answer: Will my insurance cover the removal of the nose hump or will it only cover correction of my deviated septum? Most Plastic Surgeons are not insurance specialists. Coverage issues should be directed exclusively toward your insurance company. As far as your nose is concerned- you are great candidate for Rhinoplasty and in the right hands - you should expect a very good result the first time around. Your breathing issues can be addressed at the same time. I would utilize the closed/ internal incision technique for your surgery. Personally, I do not work with insurance companies. I suggest you seek an experienced Board Certified PS, member of American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons for in person exam

Answer: Will my insurance cover the removal of the nose home, or will only cover correction of deviated septum? A There is no medical necessity to remove the dorsal hump, therefore medical insurance will not cover that component of the surgery. Removal of a hump on the nose is considered cosmetic, and must be paid for by the patient. Medical insurance will only cover a medical necessity, such as nasal obstruction which needs to be documented at the time of examination and consultation including pre- authorization. Both functional and cosmetic nasal surgery can be performed simultaneously, which allows one anesthesia and one recovery period. For more information about the differences between a cosmetic rhinoplasty and functional/ breathing nasal surgery, placed in the link and the video below
