It can be normal to have one side (breast) more tender than the other up to 9 to 12 months after surgery, but less and less each month. You may have a couple of months with no discomfort, then that one side zings again. All of this is normal healing. When concerned, though, always a good idea to check with your surgeon.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
I appreciate your question. I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz Board Certified Plastic Surgeon #RealSelf100Surgeon
Thank you for your question. The soreness should dissipate soon. Try using heat on your breasts to help the discomfort and internal healing. Please contact your plastic surgeon anytime you have questions or concerns, they are your best resource. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. It's possible that you are having nerve pain that often can take up to three months to resolve. I would not advise performing upper body exercise for 12 weeks and when you do, ease into it slowly. Typically, the more you strengthen your pectoral muscles the implants can possibly be pulled up into an unnatural and possibly uneven position. Andrew T. Lyos, MD, FACS
hello thank you for your question and provided information as well...A hypersensitivity in the breast after a breast augmentation can last up to 7 months , but in the event that this persists after this time, the ideal would be to check with your plastic surgeon to evaluate and better recovery option.
Pain or soreness is really individual to the patient. In most cases, it should have improved by 4 months. But if the nerves were impacted, it can take additional time for them to "calm down". As long as your pain isn't getting worse, I wouldn't worry. However, if you are not feeling better by 6 months post op then schedule an appointment to see your surgeon just to be safe. Best of luck.
Occasionally, some folks do get some soreness that lasts more than a month. This can be external sensitivity from nerve recovery, or it can be internal muscle tightness. Some stretches and skin desensitization exercises can help this. Continue to be patient, and congratulations on your surgery.
Thank you for your question.Soreness to the touch is common after breast augmentation. How long it lasts is variable although most of my patients have this resolved by 4 months after surgery. That being said, it is not unusual for some patients to have some soreness longer. Some pain can be related to nerve stretching and sometimes this takes a while to resolve. Other causes include interaction with the scar tissue around the implant and the muscle. The good news is that these types of pain consistently resolve with time. In view of your otherwise smooth recovery and healing, please be assured that this will likely resolve completely.Discussion with your surgeon should give you reassurance regarding this.Congratulations on your surgery!

Hypersensitivity of the breast, particularly the nipple is common after breast augmentation surgery. Typically this resolves in 3-4 weeks however can last up to 7 months.
