27 year old female developing nasolabial folds. Best options for reducing the rapid appearance? (photos)

Question

I am a thin 27 y/o female who looks younger, but my nasolabial lines are now giving me away.I take great care of my body through nutrition & exercise but have a nasolabial crease that is increasingly making its self apparent. What would be a good way to reduce the appearance of these pesky age marks.While browsing forums I'm wondering​ if Restylane or Juvederm is the best option or if tightening the cheek area would be recommend.Interested in instant solutions as well as preventative techniques.

Dear Taterstot,Thank you so much for your question.  I would recommend the use of a  hyaluronic acid filler.  This is a type of filler that can be "reversed"  if you do not like the appearance.   There are a number of products including Voluma, Vollure, Juvederm Ultra plus, Perlane, etc. In my personal opinion, Restylane has low viscosity and does not last long. Juvederm is good, but better products by the company that makes Juvederm are available.  I also recommend that you are treated by a board certified specialist who has an in depth knowledge of these products and techniques with proven results. Thank you for sharing your question and photos. You are an excellent candidate for dermal fillers to replenish the volume in your midface and to disguise your early nasolabial folds. In my practice, I have had excellent results using Juvederm Vollure just above the nasolabial fold to restore volume to this area. Depending on your injector’s assessment, you may also benefit from a small amount of filler directly beneath the nasolabial fold. However, these injections must be don’t carefully because this area will look unnatural if overfilled. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified specialist who is experienced with dermal fillers. He/she should be able to evaluate you in person and make more specific recommendations. You need several things for the best outcome.
1) a formal evaluation with a plastic surgeon.
2) dermal fillers in the laugh lines and possibly the midface for the best results.
3) skin care including daily treatments, chemical peels, microneedling, etc...

Based on your photos you would be a great candidate for a dermal filler. I would advise a consultation with an experienced injector as they can do a facial assessment to determine not only which dermal filler is best for you but what areas need to be addressed to correct your nasolabial folds. It may be that you need volume restored in your mid face as well.  Lack of volume in the mid face, cheek area will affect the appearance of the nasolabial folds.

Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos.  It's difficult to make exact recommendations without assessing you in-person.  That said, based on your photos, you may be a good candidate for dermal fillers.  Generally speaking, one of the main reasons (in addition to genetics, sun exposure, etc) we start to deeper nasolabial folds (NLFs) due is fat loss, particularly in the lateral cheeks.  As the cheeks fall forward, the NLFs start to appear deeper.  Injecting fillers in the upper cheeks helps replace some of the lost fat, and can subtly lift the NLFs and contour the jawline.  I often prefer to use Voluma in this area rather than Juvederm or Restylane, as I feel it provides better lift and is a longer-lasting product.  I would recommend scheduling a consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist to discuss your concerns.  Best of luck!
