I am a 60 year old female. I usually don’t have any problems with healing. When I bruise it usually goes away within 2 weeks or so. I’m wanting to get an upper and lower blephraplasty done. My concern is that I’m wanting to get it done before my son’s wedding. I will probably only have 4 weeks to heal before the wedding if I can get surgery in the next 2 weeks. Is this enough time to heal and not look like a horrible mess at the wedding?

Answer: Blepharoplasty timing Blepharoplasty patients vary in their healing times. Some patients have minimal bruising and look pretty good afterwards. Postoperative swelling improves each week with surgery and it may take 6 months to see the final results. Scars mature over 6-12 months, if healing well makeup may be resumed often at 2 weeks. After upper and lower blepharoplasty, most patients resume usual activities in 2-3 weeks.

Answer: 4 weeks is sufficient. As long as your surgery is done meticulously and you are compliant with your postoperative icing and instructions, the bruising, and the vast majority of swelling will be gone four weeks after your surgery. Your scar may.still be slightly pink, but this should easily be covered up with make up. Speak to your plastic surgeon to be sure they understand your concerns,
