Hello! Last year I went on a medication and gained 40 lbs in 2 months. Since, I have lost almost 30 lbs and counting. Since dropping the weight I noticed that my breasts now look totally different! They are really saggy and I feel very self-conscious about showing my cleavage. I plan on getting a breast lift after I have kids in the next few years, but I really want implants now. Is it possible to avoid a breast lift with high profile implants? What do you recommend?
Answer: Do I need a breast lift? You might not need one. I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size and style breast implant is right for them. Mildly Sagging Breasts: If your breasts are mildly droopy, a saline or silicone gel implant placed behind the pectoral muscle might help create the illusion of perkiness. That’s because as the implant fills out the top of the breast, it also fills out the bottom, making it look as if the nipple has moved higher. It hasn’t. You can always get a lift later if you feel you are not perky enough when fully settled and healed. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author. Answer: Breasts No, you will still need a lift. However, you could just have implants placed behind the breast for bigger and still sagging breasts, then choose to do a lift after you have had all the children you want. I would suggest doing the augmentation and lift for a much better look. Some breasts change only a little after pregnancy.

Answer: Maybe Thank you so much for submitting your question and sharing your story! Unfortunately, the best answer I can give you is that you should schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can properly assess your skin elasticity. While it is possible to avoid a breast lift with implants in some cases, it would appear that you have a fair amount of breast tissue already. This means that an implant may only pull harder down on your skin and create worse skin ptosis. During a consultation, your surgeon will be able to better determine if you can avoid a lift. Thanks for the questions, and good luck with your aesthetic journey!

Answer: Mini Lift with small implants or fat transfers Your breasts are widely separated and the nipple-areola complex is pointing outward. Implants alone will not solve your problem. The technique I recommend is a mini lift. Using a circumareola incision, your breast tissue is reshaped, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. At the same time, fat transfers or small implants can be placed totally submuscular. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Good question… In order to provide you with a precise treatment plan an examination in person would be required. That said, your rapid weight loss and subsequent weight gain has caused your breast skin to have stretched out resulting in the sagging or drooping. You do not necessarily need a high profile implant as much as the correct width and volume to achieve the desired look. Your implant position can be subglandular, subfascial, or dual plane, but the pluses and minuses of each option should be discussed with your plastic surgeon. I strongly recommend you prepare for your consultation with photos of “favorites” which will guide your plastic surgeon in selecting the proper implant for you. Best of luck to you.
