I am 5’8, 157 pounds and 32 years old. I have volume loss 2/2 weight loss. I am not a mother however I do plan to have children in approx 3-5 yrs. I was recommended 450 cc implants to achieve the desired lift effect as my chest is a 13.5 diameter. I was also recommended that a crescent lift to my right breast was done and an implantable mesh bra. I understand the mesh is supposed to help with “bottoming out”. Is it necessary? Should I just do a lift? Or wait until after kids altogether.

Answer: Breast lift and small implants or fat transfers A better long term procedure would be a breast lift. Your breasts are too low on the chest wall and adding the weight of implants will result in more descent of your breasts. I recommend a breast lift and small implants placed totally submuscular or fat transfers. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Breast lift vs BA Dear Friendly334208, determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient will most likely need a breast lift. If the nipples are at or above the inframammary line we can generally get by with just a breast augmentation depending on the size of the implant the patient wants. I often still using implant when I perform a breast lift because it provides more upper breast fullness after the lift. To be sure a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine what the patient actually needs.
