In my opinion, I think you should definitely have an extended or wraparound type of tummy tuck. The question is whether you will need the fleur-de-lis pattern in conjunction. On the front of the abdomen skin laxity up to the rib cage is incorporated with the skin tightening from a tummy tuck. This is because we separate the skin and the fat layer from the muscle wall all the way up to the rib cage on the front. Most plastic surgeons do not do this tissue separation on the back and for that reason, your back bra roll folds, will still be left, despite having an extended or wraparound tummy tuck. if you have a wraparound tummy tuck, then you may still have some skin laxity in a vertical direction. Individuals who get significant skin laxity from weight loss will typically have skin laxity in both the horizontal and vertical direction. A wraparound or extended tummy tuck only treats, vertical skin laxity. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics to your own. And experience plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Tummy tucks are common procedures, but extended, wraparound or fleur-de-lis pattern. Tummy tucks are not quite as common, so they may not quite have as many before and after pictures. Still, a highly experienced surgeon should have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for tummy tuck type work. By seeing the results of previous patients, whose body looks similar to your own, you should get a clear understanding of what your results are likely to look like. Different plastic surgeons will have a different opinions and some will favor the fleur-de-lis while others will believe a wraparound tummy tuck may be sufficient. If you don’t add the vertical component with a fleur-de-lis tummy tuck, you will inevitably have some remaining skin laxity that may be visible when you lean forward. I agree with you that the vertical scar from a fleur-de-lis pattern. Tummy tuck is Haily undesirable. The question is, which is worse having the scar or the remaining skin laxity. Because there are significant differences in skill and experience among plastic surgeons, I think it is wise to have as many consultations as possible in order to help find the best provider. There’s no correct number of consultations to find the best provider for your needs. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider. I think, starting by having at least five consultations seems reasonable, but for some patients having more than that may be appropriate. The biggest mistake I see patients make is having only one consultation and then scheduling surgery. Take your time with this process and recognize that provider selection is one of the most important decisions you can make. It is your responsibility to vet the provider to get a clear understanding of what their skill and experience level is. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing only the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of that provider or how many of these procedures they’ve actually performed. Find somebody who has done a lot of weight loss tummy tuck procedures and has the experience to guide you through the process without hesitation, with a proven track record of what looks like an endless collection of quality before and after pictures.
