I’m 6 months post op and I feel like there’s excessive nostril show from both the front and the side of my nose. Is this the surgeons fault or just the anatomy of my nose? Should I start looking at revision rhinoplasty because I’m just overall disappointed with my nose? Could I complain to the surgeon? Is it his fault?
Answer: Dear Celebrated980894 Dear Celebrated980894,The images you have provided give a little information about the condition of your nose. You appear to have an inverted 'V' deformity, asymmetry of the tip, and a general lack of structure especially visible in the photo of the lower part of your nose and columella. My thoughts are that this would required a surgical approach to improve. The work will require reconstructing the structure of your nose to give it shape and function (which I suspect is also impaired). All the best, Waseem Saeed

Answer: Rhinoplasty recovery: what you should know Thank you for your question and photo. Though much of the swelling is reduced within four months, your nose will be in a phase of recovery for at least one year following your rhinoplasty procedure. It is generally suggested to wait until this entire recovery process is complete to see the final results before considering a revision procedure. If you’re still unsatisfied with your results at that time, revision rhinoplasty can address the appearance of your nostrils and create a more symmetrical result. Keep in mind that each subsequent nose surgery becomes more complex due to the loss of structural support, scar tissue, and other factors. The importance of experience, expertise, and artistry cannot be overstated. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, with expertise in rhinoplasty techniques. They will be able to review your surgical history, discuss your concerns with you, and help you decide on the best course of action.

Answer: Sometimes asymmetries at the base of the nose take a full year to improve Unfortunately, it is impossible to comment on the feasibility of revision Rhinoplasty Without at least examining before and after photos. Consider re-asking your question with before and after photos. And definitely be patient since the base of the nose holds on to swelling for the longest. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty It's difficult to determine the cause of the excessive nostril show in your nose without a physical examination and consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon. However, it's important to keep in mind that post-operative swelling can take up to a year to fully resolve, and it's possible that the appearance of your nose will improve with time. It's also possible that the appearance of your nose is due to the anatomy of your nose, rather than the surgeon's technique. Every person's nose is unique, and there are limitations to what can be achieved with rhinoplasty surgery. If you are unhappy with the results of your surgery, it's important to communicate your concerns with your surgeon. Your surgeon may be able to offer suggestions for improving the appearance of your nose, or may recommend a revision rhinoplasty. However, it's important to remember that revision rhinoplasty is a complex procedure and should only be performed by a highly skilled and experienced surgeon. Before considering revision rhinoplasty, it's important to give your nose ample time to heal and for the swelling to subside. You should also discuss your concerns with your surgeon and ask for their opinion on whether revision rhinoplasty is necessary. Ultimately, it's important to approach this situation calmly and communicate your concerns with your surgeon in a respectful manner. Working together, you and your surgeon can determine the best course of action to achieve the results you desire. Best of luck !
