Is there much difference between 275cc and 295cc?

Question

I’m getting silicone moderate plus xtra implants over the muscle at the end of the month. My surgeon said I could do 275cc or 295cc so I chose the 275 but I’m now thinking of changing it to the bigger one but worried it might feel even heavier on my chest. The implants feel quite heavy to hold do they feel that heavy inside the breast? Because that’s the only thing that’s making me think of choosing the smaller one in the first place.

Thank you for your question! You would not be able to tell the difference between 275cc and 296cc breast implants. A noticeable difference would have to be at least 50-100cc difference. You can ask your surgeon if they have any sample implants to feel and see prior to your surgery. Best of luck!

There is not much difference between both from a weight and measurement perspective. The implants will weight the same once place in your breast, yes.

Between 275 cc and 295cc there really is not much weight difference feeling when they are inside your body. I rarely have patients complaining of weight or heavy feeling unless they are putting in more than 450 cc implants.

The difference is just 20cc, which translates to about 20 grams. Have you tried on sizers in each size? Sizers are implants that you can first into your bra so you can see and feel how your results may be. They should have them at your surgeon’s office.

There is not much difference at all between 20cc. This is an almost visually undetectable amount of volume. The specs of the implants are very similar as well. If you are afraid of them being too large, choose the 275cc. Please remember that the statistical largest 'regret' of augmentation is that patients generally wish (once they are about 6-12 months post op) that they would have chosen a slightly larger implant.

The way an implant feels in your hand is very different from the way it will feel in your chest. A better question to ask yourself is which is a better “problem” to have, being slightly bigger or not quite as big as you had expected. 20cc is not a significant difference in size. Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

There is no real difference between 275 cc and 295 cc. Either one of these will bring you up approximately 2 cup sizes.What you want to look at is the type of implant, in terms of the projection, the more projection in the implant, the narrower the implant. If you’re looking for more natural look, you want less projection. The less projection, the wider, the implant, which means more cleavage.Only when you go up 75cc to 150 cc do you start to see a difference clinically and visibly when looking at implantsThe important thing, when deciding on implants is the Laxity of your skin, and the quality of of your breast tissue. If you are young and have not had children, your breast tissue is probably able to well sustain 275 to 295 cc. As you get older or having had children your breast handle, the weight of implants less, there is a tendency toward sagging. Twenty cc may sound like a big difference, but it is less than 1.5 tablespoons.  One implant may be recommended over the other due to a better fit for the breast space or to get you the look you are wanting.  You won't necessarily notice the difference once in the body.
