Cartilage sticking out over 10 years after rhinoplasty (Photo)

Question

I had my rhinoplasty 10 years ago. I was super happy with the results. Unfortunately couple months ago I noticed cartilage sticking out of my nose tip, more on one side. It's getting more prominent and now I even have a dent in the middle of my nose tip. Cartilage is blanching the skin and is uncomfortable to press. Before I noticed this I had a horrible cold sore on my nose that left a scar. Could it be a reason?

Based on your photos, you appear to have very thin nasal skin which is why we are seeing a cleft in the center of your tip and visible cartilage on your right. Depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections maybe considered for camouflaging this edge of cartilage that is causing blanching for a less operated nasal appearance. As time goes by after rhinoplasty, the skin continues to tighten down and may eventually show slight asymmetries that you didn't see before. That can certainly be fixed with revision rhinoplasty. Or some patients try some filler first to smooth out the area. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you will benefit from a a revision rhinoplasty. Maneuvers for your case would include tip deprojection and placement of a mastoid fascia tip graft in order to provide a smoother surface of your tip. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

That might be a cartilage graft which could be easily removed. Try to find out if a cartilage graft was used and get your old surgery report
