Will my columella drop significantly? (Photo)

Question

Hi there, I told my surgeon I wanted to preserve a bit of my columella and he graciously did as I asked. Now looking back I wish I emphasized how I wanted it to still "hang", not just be visible. I love my nose but I’m feeling a loss of identity/ heritage without my columella hanging from the front. My surgeon seems to use strong grafts. Could it ever look like the columella's i've attached above. And would taping it differently allow the columella to drop more from the front?

You should wait until swelling and healing is complete about 3 months, but afterwards you could try some filler to add more columellar show.

If that is the case, it is too soon to evaluate your final result. You additionally appear to have medium thickness skin. I would not be surprised if your tip drop several millimeters as your swelling goes down. Try not to worry about this. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

It is impossible to see your columella on these photos  and give you some meaningful advice, unfortunately. Columella may be manipulated by means of surgery or even fillers, to create appearance that you like. You should discuss your options with your surgeon. Good luck.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you appear to have some mild columellar retraction. This could be fixed with a minor procedure, including a columellar onlay graft. That type of procedure can even be done under local anesthesia. I do not recommend taping. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
